A superbly original early `64 Saab 96. This is the very rare short-nose version, in production until 1965. The first versions came with and 750cc engine, but from 1963 this was replaced by the more powerful 840cc 3-cylinder 2-stroke engine producing 40 PS (39.4 bhp). This is the sought after 840cc version with manual transmission, freewheel and front disc brakes. Always having been more than perfectly maintained, it only has run a total of 79.035 km. The car has never required restoration and even the most of the finish is still original. The bodywork is lovely and straight with perfect panel gaps. The underbody has been completely protected with a Dinitrol treatment. This process was photographically documented and has resulted in a perfect rust-free condition of the underbody. The car has been fitted with correct and classic rally accessories, which include; long distance beams in the bumpers and roof-mounted searchlight. The trim is in top condition and has lots of beautiful and authentic details. Driving a 2-stroke is quite an experience and in the past has led to many rally successes. In short: A rare Saab 96 ‘Short-nose’ in particularly fine authentic condition.
