OK here is a bit of history about the Volvo P1800; the Swede Pelle Petterson who worked for the Italian Frua bodyworks company designed it in 1961. This particular car, the Jensen, has sumptuous elegant lines and is probably the most desirable version about. Volvo`s strategy in 1961 to introduce a sports coupe led to this stunning result. A white 1800 S with the number plate ST-1 (Simon Templar) featured in the 1960`s hit TV series `The Saint`, with Roger Moore as Simon Templar in the leading role, brought immense success to Volvo. This example has been completely and meticulously restored and mechanically revised to its` former glory. Every part has been replaced. The bodywork underwent a bare metal restoration. This has resulted in beautifully sculpted, tightly fitting bodywork with a new professionally applied white lacquer coat. It has gleaming chromium; the cow-horn bumpers, original refurbished wheels, An overdrive and stunning red leather upholstery. This car handles extremely well, due to the full mechanical revision. The undercarriage has been colour-coded to match the bodywork colour. The whole restoration process has been photographically documented. The unarguable fact is that this is indeed a most remarkable fully restored example around and one where cost certainly was not an issue! It is one of only 6000 “cow-horn bumper” P1800 ever produced by Jensen at their West Bromwich plant in England. It is a truly top-notch car in concourse condition and one we have seldom come across in such outstanding condition! Gallery Aaldering is Europe’s leading Classic Cars specialist since 1975!
