The 900 is arguably the most famous model by the Swedish car manufacturer. The model was introduced in 1978 as the successor to the 99. It remained in production for sixteen years, with the convertible variant even being available for a short period of time after a completely redesigned 900 had been introduced onto the market. With the arrival of its successor, the model you see here became known as the 900 Classic. Saab wouldn’t be Saab without offering powerful turbo engines for this model, but there was also a naturally aspirated two-litre engine available. Reliable, affordable, and still sporty with 130 horsepower.

This Eucalyptus green Saab 900 S 16v was delivered in 1992 and arrived in the Netherlands about ten years later. This particular variant features the naturally aspirated two-litre engine, meaning it doesn’t have a turbocharger. An engine that, with proper maintenance, has everlasting life, so this Saab is enjoying its second youth. Although the mileage cannot be classified as ‘low mileage,’ these cars are built very solidly, and therefore, this is still quite a fresh four-seater convertible.
The body of this Swedish convertible is best described as being remarkably neat. The car still has a beautiful shine and is free of damage. Along with fresh logos and badges, tidy plastic bumpers, and beautiful alloy wheels, it exudes a clean and honest appearance. There are no signs indicating the amount of experience this stylish character car has already seen.

The beige leather interior is also very tidy. The leather upholstery shows only slight signs of age, whereas the patina beautifully matches the car’s age, and fortunately, there is no damage. The wear is completely in line with the use of the car. The driver’s seat looks very clean with slight signs of use, the passenger seat is even fresher, and the back seat has clearly not been used much.
The typical 80s dashboard holds no surprises. It is in good condition, fairly plain in design, and very clear. The glove compartment shows its age: slightly loose-fitting covering, a typical issue with this model. Everything you see is fully functional and in good condition, including the leather steering wheel. The only item that shows its experience is the gear knob, which is slightly more worn than the rest of the interior. Let’s not forget to mention the neat convertible top, which is very solidly constructed in the case of a Saab 900, making it perfectly usable even in winter. Additionally, the sound insulation is well taken care of.

The four-cylinder engine in this Saab, with proper maintenance, is of the immortal kind. It is essentially the same B202 engine as the low-pressure turbo version but without that beloved piece of technology. With 130 horsepower at 6,100 revolutions per minute, it is a typical example of a 90’s sixteen-valve engine. The Saab enjoys travelling around in the higher rev range. Furthermore, the Saab is in excellent mechanical condition and is ready for many more carefree kilometres.

In summary: a four-seater convertible with lots of character, bridging the gap between classic and modern, and offering very enjoyable driving characteristics at affordable costs. Does it get any better?
