This how you would want to specify an DB6; “Silver Birch over Red Leather”. We have a perfectly maintained Aston Martin DB6 with complete chronological history. Whilst James Bond never used a DB6, it is in the correct Bond Silver Birch livery. This DB6 started life on the 23rd August 1968 as a white automatic coupé. She was supplied by the Aston Martin dealership of Lazenby Garages in Rothley. An Aston Martin DB6 is a rare sight in any guise or state, but the manner in which this car is presented is simply exquisite. The combination of condition and documentation is unique! The car initially came with a guarantee certificate and a book of service vouchers, these have been kept since 1968. The V5 document from its time in the UK is also still present. The documentation contains an overview of the mileages since its first MOT in 1972 up to the present. The car is in splendid condition. It got the Silver Birch finish it now has in 2004. The invoice specifically mentions the fact that the respray had to be carried out to Aston Martin standard. What exactly an Aston Martin standard entails is difficult to say, but without a shadow of a doubt, the work was performed to a very high standard. The Aston Martin still looks fantastic and drives perfectly. She has been pampered and driven with love care and attention her whole life. Most importantly she has always been in use over the years. Many DB6’s have ended up in collections and not moved since, much to a cars detriment. Besides the fact that it seems to be a cardinal sin not to experience the immense joy of being on the road with this big British GT. The DB6 has a 4.0-litre straight-six engine which since 2011 is linked to a 5-speed manual gearbox. The conversion was carried out at the Aston Workshop to the tune of £13,000.-, as stated on the invoice. In addition to this impressive invoice the original automatic transmission is also still present, just in case someone would want to restore her to her original spec. Driving the DB6 immediately shows off her extremely good maintenance. The original triple Weber engine delivers 325 Hp. The engine has not been exchanged since it left the factory. It is therefore a matching numbers engine. The large 4.0 litre bore supplies more than ample torque. The higher the revs go, the stronger the symphony of this pearl of a straight-six gets. It is truly scintillating how the level of the revs defines the engine sound. The triple carburettors sing out loud, the sound is then further transported through the wonderful Falcon Exhausts Stainless Steele pipes. The DB6 bodywork is in lovely shape with fine panelwork by Carrozzeria Touring in correct alignment. Underneath the DB6 is as beautiful as on top. It is quite obvious that the car was not often driven in the wet. Whilst the mechanical and external aspects have clearly been taken care of to high standards, it is the interior trim that elevates this Aston Martin to a special place. It has remained completely original. The dark red leather has developed a lovely patina and the carpets are still in fine shape. The wooden dashboard looks great and all the Smith instruments work properly. An Aston Martin DB6 is, even for us, a rare sight. One in this condition? Not be found anywhere!
