What we have here is the most popular version of the Ace. An AC Ace Bristol Roadster with a 2.0 litre straight-six producing 125 Ps. The recently restored vehicle first saw the light of day in 1957. As if the current excellent health is not enough it also happens to be a matching numbers example, making it more than welcome at any of the big classic events such as the Mille Miglia and the Le Mans Classic. This car comes with an inordinate amount of documentation containing a series of restoration photography, a factory letter confirming its matching numbers heritage together with invoices and correspondence regarding the work carried out.

The bodywork is in excellent condition, not really surprising considering the great British Ac expert Rod Jolly was at the helm. The car has a wonderful green finish and is topped by a superb silver coloured hardtop. The car was taken back to bare metal during the restoration process. The underlying panelwork was thankfully in such good shape that it did not require too much attention. This formed thus the perfect starting point for a top-level restoration.

The car’s interior is sporty and functional in design. The AC Ace was intended and designed as pure breed sports car. The Spartan interior focusses ones attention to the instrument panel providing the car’s vital stats. The instruments are all in very good shape and working order. Carpets and leather have all been replaced and look superb. The carpets are nicely fitted and the seat leather is lovely and supple.

The mechanics were fully taken care of under the watchful eye of the renowned British experts at Racing Box. They made this AC Ace drive as it should. The engine runs perfectly throughout the whole range with a satisfying progression through the gears. Then in 1957 with its 125 Ps it was fast and to

be honest it is still very quick. You benefit from the smooth gear change with synchromesh rings on all gears. It has fully independent suspension modelled on Cooper’s concept, who later went on to tune Mini’s. This is a wonderfully well restored, matching numbers, turn-key ready 1957 AC Ace Bristol in a fantastic livery.
