Ace – The Gentleman Racer with True Racing Genes and Mille Miglia Approval

This 1956 AC Ace is the epitome of British sports car heritage. It’s an exceptional example, meticulously restored and mechanically overhauled by expert hands, with an attention to detail that places it firmly in concours condition. Even more impressively, it’s registered with the Registro 1000 Miglia and officially accepted for participation in the 2026 Mille Miglia – a globally recognized stamp of authenticity and historical significance.

Delivered new in 1956, this Ace is part of the early production series. Its aluminum bodywork was hand-formed to original specifications and still showcases the elegant lines inspired by the Italian barchettas of the 1950s. From the sculpted curves to the distinctive grille, every detail is just as it was intended over six decades ago.

Underneath, you’ll find a lightweight and perfectly balanced chassis designed by John Tojeiro—engineered for precision and poise. Back in the day, the Ace was renowned for its exceptional handling and direct steering feel, and those very qualities have been faithfully preserved post-restoration. Its 2.0-liter inline-six engine has been fully rebuilt and runs smooth as silk. The gearbox shifts with confidence, and the suspension is dialed in for an ideal blend of spirited performance and refined comfort.

Award-Winning Provenance – Coppa delle Alpi Category Winner

This Ace isn’t just a showpiece—it’s been put to the test in authentic historic driving events and came out a winner in Category 5 at the prestigious Coppa delle Alpi. Originality and driving dynamics take center stage in this rally, and this car delivered on both fronts. Technically and cosmetically, the condition is excellent—from the flawless paintwork and panel fit to the interior, upholstery, and dashboard, all of which are beautifully finished and immaculately presented.

Fully Documented History

This car comes with a comprehensive history file, including restoration photos, service invoices, period documents, and even the original sales brochure—an increasingly rare treasure in itself.

Only 689 Examples Built

Between 1953 and 1963, just 689 examples of the AC Ace were produced, making it an extremely rare car today. It also holds a special place in automotive history as the foundation on which the legendary AC Cobra was built—an icon of international motorsport in its own right.

Rare, Coveted, and Truly Versatile

Whether you’re looking for a show-stopper for concours events, a historically eligible entry for classic rallies, or an investment-grade addition to a serious collection, this AC Ace delivers on all counts.
