We often start our texts with a bit of model history. Make a little bit enthusiastic about the model. But very honest: the Giulia Sprint does not need that. The model introduced in 1954, which started life as Giulietta Sprint, was presented at the Turin Motor Show and immediately the model drawn by Scaglione and Bertone was praised for its shapes. A beloved classic that, in addition to being timelessly beautiful, also drives great. Completely in the shape where this Giulia 1600 Sprint is.

‘Giulia’ indeed, because that’s what the model was called the last few years before it was replaced by the Sprint GT of the 105 series, the well-known letterbox. With this red Giulia 1600 Spring it is perhaps less about the history but more about the current state of the car. We are dealing with a car with which the then owner won the Tulpenrallye several times. A real rally car, with everything on board to seriously participate in countless rallies and with technology that makes it possible to finish high in the rankings.

This Sprint was originally delivered in Paris, where the car was delivered to the first owner. In 2003 the car was transported to the Netherlands and made suitable for rally driving. Over the years, the car was further perfected, with the end result several times yielding the largest trophy of the Tulpenrallye. The car also participated in the Vernasca Silver Flag in 2017, which resulted in a great photo book.
One of the reasons the Sprint drives so well is of course the heart of the car. By that we do not mean the grille, which is called that by enthusiasts, but the engine. The 1,570 cc Nord engine has been completely overhauled in England. The invoice shows that really everything has been adjusted that you can imagine, thus also ensuring a cost for which you bought a nice Giulia a few years ago. A small summary of the current version of the engine: forged Cosworth pistons, new valves, valve seats, guides, springs and a balanced crankshaft. The Alfa inhales via 45er Weber carburetors, and the temperature is maintained via a modified radiator. The various test bench results do not lie: the Alfa delivers a very healthy 160 hp to the crankshaft, resulting in about 150 hp to the rear wheels.
That power is brought to the rear wheels via a short rear axle with ‘long five’ and lock. If the pace is good and the course has to be changed, this is done with fingertip feeling thanks to Koni shock absorbers, adjusted springs and a thicker stabilizer bar. The petrol tank has been replaced by a storage space of 80 liters!
The body is completely welded for extra rigidity and equipped with, among other things, double sills for extra strength. The interior? Just look at the pictures, we advise you to spend an evening studying before you think you know everything.

The condition of the car is perfect for what it was made for. Absolutely beautiful and good, certainly in top technical condition and capable of great performances. We do not have to explain that you have to look a little further for an original show car, but if you are looking for a car to enjoy without limits and on the border, then this is the best Giulia Sprint that is currently for sale.
