We have been fans of s for years. That’s where it all started for us, and we still have warm feelings for this beautiful Italian brand. Here’s another great example of why we love Alfas so much.

In 1962, Alfa presented the new line of 2600 models to the public at the Geneva Motor Show, replacing the 2000 series. Those fortunate enough to afford a car at the time had the choice between three different body styles: sedan, Sprint coupé, or the rare cabriolet.

Carrozzeria Touring hand-built the body, with the focus of this beautiful cabriolet being on long-distance touring. With a luxurious interior, ample luggage space, and a fantastic six-cylinder engine paired with a five-speed gearbox, the 2600 was more than capable of covering long distances and, certainly for its time, achieving high speeds. It’s no wonder that the combination of the Italian body by the famous Carrozzeria Touring and ingenious engineering made for a popular Alfa Romeo, from a time when the brand undoubtedly produced magnificent cars!

Alfa Romeo’s DOHC straight-six engine was a gem, producing 145 horsepower, enabling this Alfa to achieve high speeds, enough to compete with cars like the Mercedes-Benz 230 SL. Unfortunately, this would be the last of Alfa Romeo’s straight-six engines with double overhead camshafts, marking the end of an era for a company renowned for these beautiful engines. Quite unfortunate, but luckily, we still find these magnificent cars here and there.

The example we offer here in Brummen is from 1962 and is one of the very first examples with the Touring bodywork, namely number six! This is an original Dutch-delivered car, with the engine recently overhauled by an Alfa Romeo specialist. Additionally, the gearbox and rear axle have been overhauled. Invoices for all these works are available. Thanks to these efforts, this Alfa drives fantastically well.

The bodywork was restored in the past, with the car being repainted. The paint looks nice but is not at concours level. Other works on this 2600 include a new soft-top and interior, both of which are in very good condition. The interior, with the steering wheel, instrumentation, and dashboard, presents particularly neatly.

The car comes with very extensive documentation. The last owner recently carried out major maintenance, and we find invoices for the restoration and revision works. Additionally, this Alfa comes with a recent German appraisal report, various TÜV reports, and invoices for parts.
