Speed 25 Special restoration project. Alvis agents Hinton and Brinton Ltd of Cardiff, Wales took possession on the 2nd June 1937. The car on offer is a Special using a Speed 25 underbody and a 2.5 litre Crested Eagle 19.82 Alvis (Speed 20) compressor engine. Around 1970 this car, using mainly Alvis Speed 25 parts, was built by the Birmingham based Olaf P. Lund. Specifically the underbody, gearbox, rear axle and suspension, wheels, drum-brakes, aluminium bulkhead, dashboard, steering rack. radiator and bonnet came out of the Speed 25. It has an British number plate, BAX 698, issued by Monmouthshire County Council between September 1936 and March 1937. The Birmingham tax disc supports the connection with Olaf P. Lund who owned the Tillingham Street Garage in Birmingham at that time. Together with his son he was responsible for building a number of Specials and modifying many others. The BAX 698 is to be found in the Alvis database as: Speed 20/25 Special number 14399.
