This unique car is exactly 100, yes, hundred years old. America LaFrance Fire Engine Company was founded in 1903 as a maker of firetrucks and related vehicles, with roots going back to the early 1800s. A handful of passenger cars were built between 1910 and 1920, none of which are estimated to exist. Some firetrucks were also converted into passenger cars. And you can see such a special car here.

The huge giant listens to the type designation ‘Type 75’ and dates from 1922 and therefore celebrates its hundredth birthday this year. A fantastic piece of history that goes beyond just ‘a classic car’. The car is a conversion of a Type 40 Triple to the aforementioned Type 75. Under the hoods that opens on both sides, a gigantic 900 cubic inch (14,500 cc) six-cylinder with a T Head, which means that the valves are on the outside. The hundred-year-old America LaFrance has double ignition, ignition coil and a high voltage magneto. So two spark plugs per cylinder, everything for reliability. The colossal engine sends the power, around 100 horsepower, to the rear wheels through an unsynchronised three-speed gearbox, via a full bronze differential and steel chains. You want to get the pace out of the 3,183 kilogram four-seater again? This is possible with non-assisted brakes on the rear wheels only. A fantastic piece of automotive history.

The complete restoration took many years. ‘Body-off’ and ‘completely restored’ actually don’t even cover the load because restoring such a car takes an incredible amount of research, craftsmanship, knowledge and skill. The result is impressive. Walking around the car, more and more beautiful details are noticed. The accessories from the fire brigade past, the formidable clocks on the dashboard, everything about this car is unique.
Accompanying the car is a list of companies that have contributed to the restoration of this car which is very long and shows companies from all over the world. In addition, the restorer himself has at least 4500 hours in it, which are then only the hours that are kept. A book has been made of the restoration, which is of course present with the car, as well as invoices and history.

A unique opportunity to buy a hundred years of history.
