A skillfully restored 3000 Mk2 with triple carbs, aluminum tank, incredible appearance, complete restoration report, and a thick folder of documentation. Could it get any better? It’s hard to imagine, but this ‘Big Healey’ is indeed an exceptionally fine specimen.
When Leonard Lord walked the show floor of the Earls Court Motor Show before opening time in 1952, he stopped at the stand of Donald Healey, who was presenting the ‘Donald Healey 100’ at the show. Lord is impressed, and even before the doors open to the public, Lord acquires the rights to Healey’s creation. Together, that afternoon, they present the Austin-Healey 100. And as they say, the rest is history. The adventure begins with the 100, officially known as the 100-4 BN-1. Admittedly, not a very sexy name, but the car more than makes up for it. After a few iterations with a four-cylinder engine, the first six-cylinder model entered the market in 1956, with a 2.6-liter engine sourced from the Austin Westminster. After two years, the Big Healey arrives, the heavyweight contender. Powered by a 2.9-liter BMC C-series six-cylinder engine, it is beloved by a large group of enthusiasts. What you see offered here is one such 3000 model, in this case, a Mk2.

The 1962 3000 Mk2 you see here is one to be enjoyed to the fullest. This can be accomplished by both admiring its beauty and taking it for a drive, as this beautifully restored 3000 is stunning to look at and a joy to drive. The Healey has been restored with great expertise, a fact supported by a restoration report featuring around 200 photos.
A striking red body and matching interior create a wonderful overall picture. The red-on-red color scheme suits the English sports car exceptionally well. The always popular wire wheels complete the exterior aesthetics, while the gorgeous wooden steering wheel and white piping do the same for the interior. After the restoration, the car has been meticulously maintained; every aspect of this car demonstrates that it has been cherished right down to the finest detail.

This Healey isn’t one that has merely sat in a corner looking pretty; it has been driven as well. And you will notice that when you take it out on the road. The lively six-cylinder engine responds well to the throttle, and the Healey shifts gears excellently. The brakes are responsive and well up to their task.
You are surrounded by an interior upholstered in attention-grabbing red leather with white piping, a dashboard also clad in leather, and elegant Smith instruments and switches. A Tripmaster has been installed as well, for participation in rallies and tours. The bucket seats are comfortable and hold you securely in place during spirited rides. The upholstery is very handsome, although it shows signs of having developed a patina. The black soft top is also in a neat condition.

The restoration process also included a mechanical overhaul. While working on the engine, the decision was made to increase its power output. As a result, the six-cylinder engine now produces about 180 hp, partly due to a sports camshaft and a balanced crankshaft. The technology in this 3000 model is completely up-to-date and well-maintained. The engine bay is very tidy, with carburetors, cables, and the engine itself all looking excellent. The car is solid and free from rust on the body and undercarriage.

This Austin-Healey 3000 Mk2 is exactly the kind we love to see: an attractive color scheme, the right engine, and beautiful details, all in a superb restored condition. The Healey comes with a restoration report, invoices, and a wealth of other documentation.”
