The C3 is an icon, a figure head of American Sportscars. It has a design inspired by the Larry Shinoda Mako Shark II. After a few modifications needed to take it to production, the bodywork was configured in such a way to fit a modified C2 chassis. The bodywork is made out of synthetic materials allowed for sculpting of the extremely pointy nose which would have been impossible to do in steel. The model is a hit from the start with about 50,000 sold in the best years.

This Silver-Grey was supplied in 1975 and has the added benefit of having a T-roof. Remove two panels and you have a coupe lines as well as open driving. A very tidy car that with its L48 Small Block is quite capable. The Vette’s 5.7 litre V8 offers up endless character and enjoyment, fully worthy of the title ultimate sportscar.

A look at the bodywork and we can see it is nice and straight with correct alignment and neat paintwork. Normally we would effuse about the abundant brightwork, but mid 70’s not a lot of chrome is left over. The bumpers are integrated and only the widow styles, mirror and sills have a shin finish.
The interior impresses as a proper sportscar with a dashboard full of gauges providing one with all the necessary vital information.
The gauges are set in a light-grey dashboard, matching the colour of the seats, carpets and door cards. All of this is tidy with patina. Everything is in good working order with this Corvette. You probably have already focussed on the gearstick visible in the photos, indicating this is a manual version.
That manual 4-speed gearbox is coupled to a well running and responsive L48 V8. A popular engine that at the time was often elected as best choice by American car magazines. The L48 was the base engine, more powerful engines were not actually that much faster and the press praised the amount of torque available from low revs upwards, its supple character and of course the sound it made. These days those few extra tenth’s at the traffic light sprint are less relevant and therefore we dare to state this C3 configuration is the sensible choice. Maintenance has been exemplary and we could not find any issues demanding attention in the near future.
Overall the spec, condition and accessories give this Vette the best F/e ratio. What you ask is F/e: It stands for “Fun per euro” as few will score better than this utterly fine and affordable Corvette.
