The ’s success story, aka The All American Sportscar, had a new chapter added in 1967, namely the C3, the third model to be introduced. A sturdy design that immediately and without doubt could be classified as a robust muscle-car. Even back then. Little chrome, a line reminiscent of a classic Coca-Cola bottle and big fat engines and hey presto: a new success model is born!

This Bridgehampton Blue C3 was initially supplied in 1970, a year after the 350 cubic inch had been introduced in two flavours, 300 and 350 hp. We are happy to tell you we have the second variant, the L46 with 350 hp. This 5.7 litre V8 is coupled to a manual 4-speed gearbox, guaranteed to produce heaps of fun to drive. We Europeans sometimes are a bit prejudiced feeling there is no oomph in a big American. A zero to sixty mph (96 km/hr) dash in 6.4 seconds was anything but child’s play in 1970!

This stylish blue Corvette was first registered in 1970 and therefore has that years Stingray-logo’s on the front wings and modified door panels. For years the C3 was favoured in striking colours, but now as this American is becoming a true classic, more luxurious and subdued colour schemes are being favoured.

Walking around this Corvette you will quickly see that is a very neat car. It was resprayed in its original colour in the past and the cover has kept very nicely. The few seams on the bodywork are equally narrow and the doors shut with ease. The navy blue in comparison with the C2 shows the subtly present chrome off beautifully. The original steel Rally-design wheels are also very attractive, including their chrome rims and hubcaps.

The interior has also recently been replaced and looks a treat. The black upholstery is as good as new, the dashboard and door cards are all in excellent shape. Where the dashboard of the C2 had affinity to a Jukebox, the C3 has a lot less shiny aluminium and chrome. Behind the wheel it features the large, fairly low sited, gauges and a small group of information meters in a black plastic panel in the centre of the dashboard. There are storage compartments to ensure nothing is blown away. Situated in the centre console you will find one of the favourite devices: the gearstick which engages the four forward gears providing that firm shove in the back.

The “Vette” drives as you would expect a Vette to drive, with loud thunderous noise emanating from the V8 and handling nicely balanced between sporty and comfortable. The 5.7 litre V8 is on point. Just how spectacular it is to hit the road in one of these cars, pure pleasure!

The C3, especially the chrome bumper early ones, are rapidly gaining in popularity. Particularly when they are as fetching as this blue convertible is.
