We have another one: one of those already beautifully driving Mk 2’s that has been improved to an even greater extent than when it left the factory in 1963. For the purist, the lover of a 100% original car, this car may not be the first choice, but for everyone else, this could be the best Mk2 available at the moment.

The Mk2 was one of the most sporty saloons available in the ’60s. A lot of power, a great engine and excellent handling makes it a car that, even today, can still compete with “the big boys”. Especially with the very powerful and “matching numbers” 3.8-litre engine, as found in this green English saloon.

This ’63 Mk2 originally comes from America and was recently fully, body-off restored in the Netherlands. The body was taken back to bare metal to be rebuilt with care and expertise. The aim was not to restore back to complete authenticity but rather at constructing a perfect Mk2. Nothing was left to chance in terms of restoration. Much of the sheet metal was renewed and all the technology was overhauled. What do we mean by “all”? The entire engine, gearbox, driveshaft, propshafts, wheel bearings, wiring, fuel and brake lines, and numerous other things have been completely refurbished or bought new if possible.
The body was painted in a beautiful green shade, and all the details you can find are in excellent condition.

With such a sleek and also top-condition exterior, the interior cannot be left behind. It was not only restored to perfection, but also modified. You will sit even better in this Mk2 than usual because the front seats have been replaced by XJ seats with corresponding belts for the desired safety. An XJ power steering was also fitted. Numerous small modifications were carried out, such as a third brake light, new fuses, a new (quartz) clock, and the speedometer was replaced with one that reads kilometres instead of miles. The ambiance is excellent, and the upholstery was of course completely renewed to exacting high standards.

The real modifications, however, have not yet been mentioned; they can be found in the field of the mechanics. For better handling, a set of Koni shock absorbers was fitted, and the brakes were also upgraded. To keep the temperature under control during warm weather or when using the fantastic power source, a larger cooling unit was placed in the radiator and an electric cooling fan was added. The list of minor improvements is endless. We should also not overlook the stainless steel exhaust system, which produces a beautiful sound. Not too intrusive, but providing a very nice background sound of the powerful six-cylinder with 220 hp.

Since the restoration, the Jaguar has been well-maintained and driven regularly. Therefore, it is a “get in and enjoy.” It’s the kind of car that you will use much more than initially thought because it’s such a pleasure to be on the road with. The very powerful engine, the incredibly smooth automatic gearbox, the good suspension, and the fantastic grip of the Dunlop tires mounted on Wolfrace aluminium wheels: with this car, every metre you drive is a party!

Many modernized cars lose their character, their soul. This Mk2 was tackled by professionals, so you still feel like you’re in a typical British classic car from the ’60s. It starts with the delightful, typical scent of an English car and continues with the shiny wood, beautiful gauges, and luxurious upholstery. This is High-Tea in the form of a car. The car comes with a large stack of invoices, restoration photos, and a lot of documentation about the technology relating to this car. The Heritage Trust certificate is also included, confirming the car is indeed a matching numbers vehicle.

If you want to enjoy this high-quality restored and probably best-driving Mk2 around, come and see us in Brummen and convince yourself of your inclinations.
