This is nothing if not a timeless beauty. The Maserati Ghibli was transformed into a Spyder by Campana. Campana was an Italian coachbuilder that effectuated the conversion of the Ghibli coupe to a Spyder. Campana was so good at its job, it is rumoured they also built the Spyders sold by Maserati. These were very sensitive matters in the extremely proud Supercar Valley environment. This example was subject to a full restoration and mechanical reconditioning. The car has its 4.7 matching numbers engine and is absolutely an acquisition for any serious Maserati collector. In addition to the above, the documentation that comes with this car is as good as the car itself.
The bodywork is glorious, its design not having lost any of its appealing beauty over the years, is still indisputably representative of an Italian masterpiece. The panelwork is nice and thin with correct alignment. The good quality hood closes neatly. As you would quite rightly expect the car was also resprayed during its restoration. The immaculate paintwork has stood the test of time. The original alloy rims are in good condition, shod in correctly sized good quality tyres. The panels are a good fit and and in very good condition.
The interior was completely refurbished, leaving it in a beautiful state. The beige leather forms a lovely contrast to the black exterior. High-quality leather was used to match the original upholstery. There is new black carpeting that has been neatly fitted. The instruments and switching gear all look and work wonderfully well. The dashboard was recovered in two-tone black on top over tan. The 3-spoke steering wheel is the icing on the cake.
The engine bay is very well presented. The 4.7 engine runs a treat, The V8 delivers 310 Ps and enables the Ghibli to reach speeds up to 250 km/hr. The engine is coupled with a manual 5-speed ZF gearbox. The gears engage precisely and the clutch feed is as easy as ABC. As the engine climbs through the revs it always maintains ample torque. The brakes and suspension were also completely
replaced during the restoration. New suspension bushes and shock absorbers were also fitted. The new brakes are nice and responsive.
Finally, we should mention the documentation. The car comes with a fine Maserati Classiche box containing the original owner’s manual, parts catalogue, electrical scheme and general information about the model and brand. There is also a file containing additional information regarding invoices and rapports.
We are more than happy to present this very fine, matching numbers and well documented Maserati Ghibli 4.7 Spyder Campana.
