What a beauty. In the past, already knew very well how to design a beautiful convertible. This W180-generation 220S Ponton Convertible, which also is a matching numbers car, is no exception. It is a particularly beautiful 220S Ponton Convertible finished in the very special color Color Weiss-Grün (DB112) with a dark green leather interior and upholstery, and a dark green fabric top – what a combination, so beautiful!

This Mercedes-Benz was first registered in July 1958 in America and returned to Europe, Germany to be precise, in 2014. The car was beautifully restored and overhauled there, which has been documented in various photos to the highest original standards (Germans being quite good at this kind of stuff!). The 220S has been in the possession of the previous owner since 2014. Over the years, the car has been exceptionally well cared for and maintained.

The body features beautifully crafted sheet metal with correctly aligned all around. The Weiss Grüne paint is in particularly good condition. The green canvas top was replaced during the restoration and fits well everywhere. The fabric top is in very good condition. The interior is adorned with very beautiful green leather complemented by green velour carpeting. The leather is generally in very fine condition. The dashboard finished with woodwork and chrome is simply dazzling. A car should not only look fantastic but also drive that way.
That has been very well achieved indeed with this Mercedes-Benz 220S Ponton Convertible. The car is powered by a 2.2-liter straight-six engine with two Solex carburettors, coupled with a 4-speed manual transmission. The engine and the manual gearbox have been fully overhauled in the past by a Mercedes-Benz specialist, which is eminently evident whilst driving. The engine delivers its full torque of 171.5 Newton-meters at 3,500 rpm. The full power of 108 horsepower is unleashed at 5,200 rpm.
The substantial displacement, combined with the fine gearbox ratios, ensures that you can always keep up in traffic, and the 220S handles with a very modern feel for a car from the 1950s. In short, a beautifully executed Mercedes-Benz 220S Ponton Convertible in exceptionally well-maintained and truly dazzling pristine condition.

Will you be the new proud owner of this top-restored W180-generation 220S Ponton Convertible, one of only 2178 units produced between 1956 and 1959?
