In 1968, presented the W114/W115, designed by Paul Bracq. This spacious sedan is the successor to the W110, one of the last models with a “winged” rear end. The new model was designed to be sleek and stylish for its time. The W114 has six-cylinder engines, while the W115 has four-cylinder engines. This beautiful olive green 230 is one of the latter, with the durable 2.3-litre inline four-cylinder engine.

The first owner of this Mercedes-Benz chose a non-traditional colour scheme. The Dutchman didn’t choose white, beige, or black, but instead chose Dark Olive, colour code 291H. It looks very stylish on the 230.4, especially in combination with the light brown interior. The interior is in exceptionally neat and original condition. Virtually no renovation has been required, and nearly the entire interior is still the same as when the Mercedes left the factory in 1974. The front seats were reupholstered a few years ago with the original fabric.
The dashboard is also completely original, including the simple VDO instruments. Everything works properly, including the heated rear window, and the authentic Blaupunkt radio with an electric antenna, for which all documentation is still with the car.
The body is in good condition. It has been resprayed in the original colour. The beautiful olive green paint almost looks black in low light and has a gorgeous deep lustre. The bodywork condition is properly described as being very clean, with no defects or corrosion. The W115 sits on original steel wheels with partially colour-coded hubcaps.

The engine falls into the category of “wear-resistant with proper use.” The 2,277 cc four-cylinder engine has a power output of 110 hp and is known for being extremely reliable. Mercedes-Benz cars from this series have contributed to the brand’s excellent reputation. A Greek taxi driver’s diesel car once reached 4.6 million kilometres before being sold to the Mercedes-Benz Museum, and several petrol-powered examples reached one million kilometres. The vast majority of the W115 production had diesel engines, and most people chose the 200, the entry-level engine, for petrol engines. This luxurious and powerful model can therefore rightfully be called something of a special car.
The manual four-speed gearbox is well-matched to the torquey engine and shifts smoothly. The hydraulically operated disc brakes, far from being commonplace at the time, work without any sign of fatigue.

This beautiful 230 comes with invoices, the original (maintenance) booklets, old registration documents, and the documentation for the Blaupunkt radio.
A very complete car, in exceptionally original condition as well as being an originally Dutch supplied car: This kind of a W115 rarely comes by.
