Special offer of € 127,500,- now for € 99,950,- When in 1948 introduced the 356, it became the brand’s first production model. Quite a few variations followed of which the SC is one of the favourites with its more powerful 95 hp engine. It also distinguished itself from its tamer sibs by having disc brakes on all fours. Then there is the Reutter type denotation attached to this 356 SC. Reutter initially was responsible for building the Porsche prototypes. Porsche acquired Reutter in the early sixties and renamed it RECARO (Reutter CAROsserie). Knowing what RECARO has become, finding the first deep bucket seats as standard in a 356 SC Reutter is little wonder.

This 1963 356 SC has the very popular Rubinrot finish. That this happens to be the most popular colour is no surprise as it accentuates the 356’s lines beautifully. This 356 has been subjected to a high-quality restoration in the past. This Matching Numbers 356 therefore presents wonderfully well with flawless paintwork and utterly precise alignment. The bodywork seams are each one for one very sound. In keeping with the overall high standard of restoration the brightwork, rubber mouldings and windows are all in lovely condition.

The interior with its aforementioned sports seats is just as appealing as the rest. The seat and door card upholstery and carpets are in pristine state. The dark carpet contrasts nicely with the mainly colour-coded dashboard. All in all a lovely place of work to be in. The original steering wheel and VDO metres look great and all work as intended. The same goes for lights and switching gears. Clearly, nothing was left to chance during the restoration.

Driving the 95 hp 356 is simply a feast. With exception of the Carrera it was the most powerful version and a proper ’60s sportscar. A strong, silky engine with heaps of character and a great soundtrack encourages you to take a sporty approach. The performance still impresses today, in part thanks to the 356’s low curb weight. The car’s handling is totally suited to the sportive character of the boxer engine. The suspension is sportive but certainly not uncomfortable, the steering is dynamic with lots of feedback. Back then what the press described as being an amazing car Porsche had managed to put together still holds true today. Unsurprisingly the 356 is a popular choice at many classic car events.

The 356 comes with an enormous bunch of invoices, taxation reports, many photos of the restoration and an original owner’s manual. The care taken over these documents indicates the care taken to look after the car itself. It is because of this we are able to qualify this 356 SC as one not often encountered.
