, such a beautiful car manufacturer that few people know about. Siata, which stands for Società Italiana Applicazioni Technice Automobilistiche, was founded in 1926 by racer Giorgio Ambrosini and initially produced parts for Fiats to make them faster. After World War II, the company started producing its own cars.

One of the models the company built is the Daina. It is the model that had the longest production run for Siata, starting in 1950. It was available as a coupe and convertible, with the bodies being supplied by major players in the automotive industry such as Stabilimenti Farina, Bertone, and numerous other small bodywork companies.

The foundation of the Daina was what Siata had always specialized in: Fiat. In this case, it was based on the Fiat 1400, a family car that provided its chassis and technology for the piece of art you see here. The wheelbase of the base car was shortened by 25 centimetres, and the chassis was reinforced. Under the hood, there were options for a 1400, 1500, or 1800 engine. With new camshafts, manifolds, carburettors, and exhausts (usually sourced from rival Abarth), the much improved engines became more powerful and lively. The gearbox choice, depended on the customer’s preference: both four and five-speed transmissions were available with various gear ratios.

The production of the Daina was not very fast. In total, about 50 cars were produced, most of them before 1953, and only 20 of them were equipped with a coupe body.

One of those 20 cars is the Daina you see offered for sale here. The bodywork is from Stabilimenti Farina. The coupe, with independent front suspension and a solid rear axle, may appear black in the photos, but it is actually a very dark blue. Extremely stylish!

Like many cars of this kind, the car moved from Italy to America at some point in its history. In 2004, the car returned to Europe to undergo a complete and thorough restoration. While this car originally came with a 1400 cc engine producing 65 hp and a four-speed gearbox, the restoration opted for a Fiat Lampredi engine of 1,995 cc. This twin-cam engine is already much more powerful than the original in its tamed form. However, it is not a standard four-cylinder engine. With a classic tuning recipe, in the spirit of Siata itself, it now has two double Weber carburettors, a stainless steel exhaust system, and many more upgrades, resulting in a power output of 130 hp. You will understand that a four-speed gearbox was no longer sufficient for this power, so a five-speed transmission is now present.

To handle this power effectively, the chassis is in excellent condition, allowing the car to drive fantastically. The brakes have been optimized and modified with special brake pads and other components to control the pace of the Daina when necessary.

It is important to mention that the original engine and gearbox are present with the car. This makes the car suitable for numerous classic rallies, such as the Mille Miglia. During the conversion, consideration was given to the fact that reverting to the original configuration would not require major interventions.

The bodywork has been completely restored to concours condition, and it shows. The body is incredibly smooth and beautiful, and the paintwork has clearly been done by true professionals. All the chrome work is stunning, as are the colour-coded steel wheels, featuring elegant and subtle hubcaps. The interior matches the exterior, beautifully restored and renovated, and in excellent condition. The beige leather complements the dark navy blue paint beautifully.

The car has been an award winner at various concours events and is in an absolutely stunning condition. In its current setup, it offers unparalleled driving pleasure, with ample comfort, an abundance of experience, and more than appealing performance. With the included original engine, this Siata can also be transformed into a car suitable for events like the Mille Miglia.

A unique opportunity to own one of approximately 20 Siata Daina Sports cars. The purchase also includes a file with numerous invoices, including those from the restoration.
