Who would not want to get behind the wheel of a 1930’s Le Mans racer? Just the fact belonging to that select company of the “ Boys”! Wealthy men who raced for the sheer fun of it on a Sunday and then went on to party with models from that era. Our car is a splendid Bentley Le-Mans Special Replica. The car was specialist built in 2006 to an extremely high standard using only the very best materials. They used a 1934 Rolls-Royce 20/25 chassis as a base. Often the later Bentley Mk6 is used as a base for the Le-Mans Replica, this one is, however, is a much closer match to the original. If we take a moment to consider how this fantastic Bentley was put together, all will become clear. It was always the intention to create a car that would provide limitless driving pleasure. The heart of the car is formed by the Bentley 4.5 litre straight-six with twin SU carburettors delivering 175 Hp. The engine is coupled to a 4-speed Bentley Mk6 transmission with modified Petersen-Laycock overdrive. The radiator has a “Dessert proof” cooling block. The fuel system has a “autovac” pump and an electric “SU” fuel pump, the tank takes 150 litres of fuel. The dark green aluminium bodywork is mounted on a wooden ash frame. The interior trim consists of Wilton green carpets and dark green Conolly hide. Hartford supplied the shock breakers with rear Koni dampers. When it was built in 2006, it was intended to last a lifetime. Since being built it has only done 22,000 miles and naturally is still in perfect condition. Not only is she a beauty to behold, she drives fantastically as well. The power-assisted steering and brakes make driving her a real feast. This Bentley looks as if she has been around for nearly a hundred years, but with the added bonus that everything is modern, in working order and is easy to use. As you may well expect to form a low mileage car like this; she is in excellent condition. The straight-six runs and sounds fantastic. The manual gearbox is easy to use. The nice thing about pre-war cars is the fact everything is open to see. One look at this car and you will be in no doubt that this is a top-quality example. The bodywork and paintwork are in wonderful condition. The interior trim is pristine and the hood is in perfect condition with a nice tight, secure fit. The car comes with two folders full of documentation including many invoices. There is also an extensive photographic rapport of the building process as well as technical information. This Bentley delivers “Turn-Key” pre-war pleasure. Get in and enjoy, let the ’30s relive, get the feeling of steering her to victory at Le Mans or take her for a nice relaxing Sunday spin. This Bentley can, as is wont of the marque, do what ever you wish! Gallery Aaldering is Europe’s leading Classic Cars specialist since 1975!
