Every enthusiast knows the BMW E9. The car was available with different engines. To create this top model, the displacement of the 2800CS engine was increased to 2986cc and the engine was equipped with Bosch D-jetronic fuel injection. The new top model was called BMW 3.0 CSi and had no less than 200 hp. In this case, it also concerns the most popular version of the BMW E9, namely the 3.0 CSi with manual transmission. This is a European delivered BMW E9 3.0 CSi from 1972. The car was fully restored a few years ago by the previous owner and is in good condition.

The bodywork looks good. The sheet metal is nice and thin and the fits are correct. The chrome mouldings and bumpers are also all in good condition. The BMW was also completely repainted during the restoration. The paint still looks very neat and has only very light traces of use. The car stands on beautiful Alpina wheels that complete the look of the E9. They grace the understated design beautifully and the car simply seems to make sense from every angle.

The interior is covered with beautiful red velvet upholstery and red carpets that provide a wonderful contrast to the grey exterior. The dashboard also has red upholstery and a wooden inlay, so typical for that time. The BMW 3.0 CSi was the top model in the range at the time and therefore has luxury items such as electric windows. The instruments are in good condition and perfectly legible and all controls are also in very good condition. The wooden steering wheel and the Alpina gear knob are the things that complete the interior.

The engine runs fantastic. The sound of the 3.0 litre in-line six changes with increasing revs from a dark hum to a turbine-like howl. After a ride in this car you will wonder why we would ever drive an electric car. The beautiful sound is shared even more beautifully with the outside world in this copy, thanks to a stainless steel exhaust. The engine produces 200 hp and is coupled to a 4-speed manual transmission with fine gearbox ratios. The engine compartment is neatly equipped and protected against rust by means of a Waxoyl treatment. The car has been very well maintained in recent years. The last major maintenance dates from 2019, during which many parts were replaced preventively. The BMW is equipped with Bilstein shock absorbers that contribute to good driving behaviour. The brakes can also be dosed well and in good BMW tradition, they are perfectly suited to their task.

The BMW will be delivered including invoices from the maintenance of recent years and is ready for many kilometres of classic “Freude am fahren”.
