Ferrari produced its Mondial between 1980 and 1993. The 2+2 coupé was a Pininfarina design later to be followed by the convertible version. 1989 Ferrari introduced the Mondial T. This was the most rigorous facelift in the carmaker’s history. When the standard Mondial first came out it had the engine laid out transversally behind the rear seats. Following the facelift, the engine was now situated lengthwise. Such an extensive modification of a model has never since been repeated. Remarkably the Mondial T was the first longitudinal, mid-engined Ferrari V8, a configuration still in use with the F8 Tributo.
Most notable about our Ferrari Mondial T is the factory-fitted sunroof. This is a rarely seen option. The car has a Rosso Corsa finish with a black leather trim paired with red carpets.
This Mondial T’s bodywork is in good shape. It has nice and thin, correctly aligned panelwork. Other than a few minor blemishes the paintwork comes up to scratch. The car was resprayed for cosmetic reasons in its original livery. The bright work and grills to are in good order.
Inside matters have also been very well looked after. The lovely supple leather upholstery only shows very light signs of wear. The black leather-clad dashboard is also in good condition with all the gauges and controls neat and in good working order.
The 3.4 V8 engine is related to the one later used in the Ferrari 348 GTB. The engine delivers its power through a precisely working manual 5-speed gearbox. The transmission has been overhauled. Brakes and clutch have recently been serviced and work perfectly. The supple suspension is more indicative of the Mondial T’s Grand Tourer credentials than that of a thoroughbred sports car.
Our Mondial T comes with a car wallet and a fair number of invoices. In 2019 the timing belt was replaced during a major service by a specialist mechanic. In short, this is a very nicely looked after Ferrari Mondial T with looks and mechanics in excellent condition.

Ferrari introduceerde in 1989 de Ferrari Mondial T. De facelift van de Ferrari Mondial is zonder enige twijfel de meest rigoureuze facelift in de geschiedenis van de automobiel. Toen de gewone Mondial uitkwam lag de motor overdwars achter de achterbank. Na de facelift lag de motor echter ineens in de lengte! Zo’n uitgebreide modelcyclus update is sindsdien nooit meer herhaald. Opvallend detail is dat de Mondial T de eerste Ferrari V8 met middenmotor was die de motor in de lengte had en Ferrari deze configuratie tot op heden nog gebruikt voor de F8 Tributo.
Onze Ferrari Mondial T valt op door het af-fabriek gemonteerde schuifdak. Een optie die je maar zelden ziet. De auto is uitgevoerd in Rosso Corsa met een interieur met rode tapijten en zwart leder op de stoelen.
De carrosserie van de Mondial T verkeert in goede conditie. Het plaatwerk is mooi dun en de passingen zijn correct. Ook de lak verkeert in goede conditie met slechts wat hele lichte sporen van gebruik. De auto is omwille van cosmetische redenen al eens opnieuw gespoten in de originele kleur. Ook de sierlijsten en roosters verkeren in goede conditie.
Het interieur is eveneens zeer goed verzorgd. Het leder heeft slechts wat hele lichte sporen van gebruik en is nog altijd heerlijk soepel. Het dashboard is eveneens met zwart leder bekleed en verkeert in goede staat. De instrumenten en bedieningselementen verkeren eveneens in goede staat.
De 3.4 liter V8-motor is gelieerd aan de motor die later dienst zou doen in de Ferrari 348 GTB. De motor is gekoppeld aan een handgeschakelde transmissie met vijf versnellingen die zich precies laat bedienen. De transmissie is al eens gereviseerd. De remmen en koppeling zijn recentelijk ge-serviced en functioneren perfect. Het onderstel is lekker soepel en laat al gauw merken dat de Mondial T meer is bedoeld als “Gran Tourer” dan als volbloed sportauto.
De Mondial T wordt geleverd inclusief boordmap en een groot aantal facturen. In 2019 is bij een specialist de distributieriem vervangen en heeft de auto groot onderhoud gehad. Kortom een prima verzorgde Ferrari Mondial T in zowel optisch als technisch in prima conditie.
