1965 was a good year for the Mustang. The model became very popular and was a rock-solid sales success for . Deciphering the chassis number we can see what we have here is a 1965 Ford Mustang Convertible, built in the San José factory and fitted with the more powerful 289 Ci V8 engine option which produced 200 Ps. Following its recent full restoration and mechanical overhaul, this Ford Mustang is in very good shape.

The bodywork is in fine condition. The alignment of the lovely thin, mainly original, panelwork is good. The properly applied gold finish totally suits this sixties car. The white convertible hood is also in a good state of repair. The hood looks great against the gold bodywork and is a tight fit.

On the inside, there are light brown carpets together with light brown vinyl upholstery. During the restoration, the interior trim was completely replaced in keeping with the car’s original spec. As soon as you

open the door you are immediately struck by the perfect colour match and quality of the refurb. Instruments, controls and switches are also in peak condition.

The engine bay not only looks very neat, the big V8 it houses is also in prime condition, whilst 200 Ps may not seem a lot these days, the fantastically chosen gear ratios of its manual 4-speed make driving it a good old fashion unforgettable sensory feast. The diff and suspension were also given the necessary attention. The good condition continues on inspecting the car’s underbelly. Good maintenance and the overhaul have certainly contributed to this car’s handling, with only regular servicing being needed for the time being.

The last American owner possessed the car from about 1993 and has kept the paperwork in good order ever since. The Dutch owner has kept up this tradition with even the original owners manual still being part of the itinerary.

In other words, this is a very well maintained and nicely documented 1965 Ford Mustang Convertible with the always popular manual gearbox which comes in a fantastic colour scheme.
