In the second half of the 1960s, the motorcycle world was evolving at a remarkable pace. Nowhere was this more evident than in the United States, where demand for pure performance surged: more power, higher top speeds, and above all, quicker acceleration. responded with a secret development program known as the “N100 Plan.” Its objective was ambitious: to create a 500cc motorcycle that would outperform anything currently available on the market.

The result arrived in 1969: the Kawasaki H1 500 Mach III. A machine that immediately caused a sensation. Equipped with a 498cc three-cylinder two-stroke engine and delivering impressive power, this was a motorcycle that simply outpaced its competitors in a straight line.

Yet the H1 was not known for performance alone. Quite the opposite. It quickly earned a reputation as a machine that demanded respect. The combination of explosive power, relatively low weight, and a chassis that did not always keep up made it a motorcycle for experienced riders. Unsurprisingly, it acquired nicknames that perfectly reflected its uncompromising character.

The example offered here dates from 1974, one of the final production years of this iconic model. It is equipped with the characteristic 500cc three-cylinder engine and is registered in the Netherlands. This Mach III presents in a fine, well-maintained condition, has been restored and overhauled, and runs and performs exactly as one would expect.

A motorcycle that represents not only an important chapter in Kawasaki’s history, but also an era in which performance was still raw and unfiltered.
