It is 1949. The United Kingdom is still recovering from the war years, yet in Abingdon something is being built that will change the automotive world. Not big, not loud, but small, light, open, and right hand drive. The TC. The car that introduced the concept of the sports car to the rest of the world. This particular example belongs to the final series, finished in classic red with a beige interior and a black soft top.

The MG TC also captured the imagination of American buyers. Not a Cadillac, not a Packard, but this small and pure two seater stood out in a country dominated by V8 engines and tail fins. The reason was simple. It was different. Light, direct, mechanical, and free of unnecessary excess.

The example you see here was fully restored in the past with the body removed from the chassis and the mechanical components thoroughly rebuilt. It remains in very good condition today. The paint presents well with a deep finish and the details remain nicely preserved. In short, this is an MG that is ready to be enjoyed on the road. Panel fit is neat, the chrome parts look correct, the soft top is well kept, and the dashboard is in attractive condition. Even the spokes of the steering wheel present nicely. This is a charming and well cared for MG TC, ready for use.

Power comes from the well known 1,250 cc four cylinder engine. With 54 horsepower, a four speed manual transmission, and rear wheel drive, it offers exactly the kind of mechanical experience enthusiasts appreciate. The engine sounds eager, the gear lever communicates clearly, and the chassis is simple in design yet lively in character. The driving position is typically MG. You look out across the long hood and immediately understand what driving used to mean. It is no surprise that people fall for this little MG.

The MG TC is not about outright speed, but it may be one of the most charming ways imaginable to drive to the bakery on a Sunday morning. It is also a proven rally car. And one thing we often hear from TC owners is how attached they become to their car. People tend to keep them for a long time. You form a bond with an MG like this, and we fully understand why.
